There is great interest in communication: European consumers have a generally positive view of Chinese food supplements – not least because of the trust created by long-established products such as ginseng and ginkgo extracts, according to Diapharm Managing Partner Ralf Sibbing. The Chinese manufacturers regard this market’s interest in traditional health products as an attractive opportunity to introduce food supplements and cosmetics to Europe.
At the meeting, the delegates led by CCCMHPIE director Zhang Zhong Peng learned about the specific factors to bear in mind regarding the European market for food supplements. “We must always emphasise that even though we have a harmonised food legislation for ‘the European market’,” says Ralf Sibbing, Managing Partner at Diapharm. “every country in Europe has its own interpretation and particular characteristics in terms of its implementation, but these also create special opportunities.” On their trip to Europe, the delegation also visited Switzerland and Norway as well as Germany.
